Relax for Father's Day

This week we are playing Bingo at Catch the Bug Saturday Challenge.  I am featuring “Relaxing Guy" and Chihuahua Puppy Set from Bugaboo Stamps.

selected the middle vertical column for my card, stitching, 2 images merged, and orange.

I am making this card for my son, and wouldn’t you know it, he has red hair, so I chose a shade of orange for the guy’s hair, plus put a little orange in his tie.

For my stitching I used my Die-Namics dies to cut out my layers.

I added some splattering on the white background in a Denim Blue ink for a little something.  This card is for a man, so I have to avoid bling.   I really need to practice splattering with my brushes, so I know which one to use for different looks.  I think I got a little carried away here.

I created my “relax” word die in Sure Cuts a Lot 4 using font “Braveheart”, which  I think is a free font.  I did manipulate the “r” with a glyph.  I created a shadow of .03 so it wouldn’t be so thin, but next time on this font I will use .05, especially to stack layers.  Here I cut out 3 layers and stacked them for dimension.  I used Distress Inks in “Orange Marmalade” to add color to it after it was glued together.

I didn’t technically merge the two images, which I had planned to do.  I decided to attach the puppy with foam tape for a little dimension.  I also added little google eyes for fun.

The sentiment was built with my Honeybee Simple Sentiments stamp set.  I stamps on coordinating blue card stock and used white heat embossing powder.

Sending Smiles

It’s time for another sketch with Stella.  Today I am featuring "Flower Teddy" from Bugaboo Stamps.

I added some shimmer to the wings of the dragon flies and Nuvo drops to the center of the flowers and on the lady bug.

For the sentiment, I used Distress Oxide Peeled Paint and an old make up brush to apply color to a piece of card stock.  I gave it a little distressed look by adding water drops.  The sentiment was stamped in Versacolor Black Onyx ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  This ink gives a much more precise crisp image for the smaller print.  If you don't plan to emboss, be sure to let it dry before handling, this is a pigment ink and takes longer to dry.

Supplies:
Heidi Swapp Paper Pack (Tuesday Morning)
CTMH Stamp Set #D1708 Sending Smiles

There is still plenty of time to enter the Stella Says Sketch Challenge.  The sketches run for 2 weeks and you can win free images from Bugaboo Stamps.

Say it With Flowers

This weeks challenge at Catch the Bug Saturday Challenge  is “Say it with Flowers”, I saw this image and thought foil.

I am featuring “” from Bugaboo Stamps.

The picture doesn't do it justice, but it is very colorful and shiny.  The image was printed with my laser printer and then foiled with DecoArt  Foil - Rainbow

“Thanks” was cut from toner paper and foiled in “Spring Green”, I cut 3 layers to add dimension, because this image would be difficult to add foam tape to.  The sentiment is a combination of two sayings in the stamp set and embossed with white embossing powder.

I added Nuvo Glitter Drops, White Blizzard to the center of the flowers and Pink Champagne around the flowers.

Supplies:
Simon Says Stamps - Thoughtful Messages

Catch the Bug Saturday Challenge - AG

This weeks challenge at Catch the Bug Saturday Challenge  is anything goes .  I am featuring "4 block tulip square" from Bugaboo Stamps.

The first thing I did was select my paper, this was my color inspiration.  I added Nuvo Crystal Drops in Metallic Pale Gold on all the little dots around the flowers and leaves.  I also added some Nuvo Glitter Drops in Night Sky on the little lady bugs.  I used Violet Galaxy around the sentiment strip.

Little Tip:  use a small point object, like a pin or punch tool (anything with a small tip) to add small dots of Nuvo Drops.  Squeeze the drops to a scrap sheet, dip your tool into the drops and apply with a light touch.  I found this tip from the professional crafters that share their talents and secrets.

I cut out HAPPY on white cards stock, and added color with CTMH Exclusive Ink pad in Thistle.  This color matched my card stock the best.  Both sentiments were stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with WOW Gold embossing powder.

Pink Fresh April Challenge

Todays card features Pink Fresh Stamp Set Fleur 1.

The sketch and color combo from Pink Fresh was my inspiration.

This floral stamp is a good size, as you can see it takes up most of the front of my 4.25x5.5" card.  I wanted a little color on the back ground so I splattered a little black craft paint and then blended a little color on  Distress Ink in Peacock Feathers.   I used a piece of stripped card stock on the edge and to break up the white, I added a very thin strip of card stock in black along the seam.

The sentiment is from #SimonSaysStamps "You & Me".

The picture doesn't show but I added a little Stickles on the flowers, here and there for a little sparkle.  I added Nuvo Crystal drops in the center of the flowers and around the arrangement.

Challenges:
Pink Fresh April Challenge
Simon Says Flower Power
Simon Says Sparkle & Shine - Wednesday Challenge

I am really happy how this card came out.  I think I will make a few more with different sentiments.

Till next time,

Happy Craftin!

Sparkle & Shine

Today's card was inspired by the following challenges:

Simon Says Sparkle & Shine - Wednesday Challenge
MFT Sketch Challenge #381

I used the stencil included in #SimonSaysStamp April's Card Kit "Butterflies".  I blended Distress Oxide Inks in Lemonade Yellow and Mermaid Lagoon.  The butterfly trails are from the stamp set included in the kit "Beautiful Day".

The circle was cut out using the Die-Namics Inside and Out Stitched Circle Stax from #MFT.  I blended my inks in a circle pattern on a piece of scrap paper and placed it behind the circle..

My sentiment is from #MFT "All About You".  Which I stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with WOW Opaque White Fine Embossing Powder.  Then I cut it out with Die-Namics Stitched Sentiment Strips.

I cut the word "you" with my Cricut Explore, 3 times in white card stock, and once in blue glitter card stock.  I layered them together for dimension.  I used an alcohol marker to color the edges.

Other Supplies:
Nuvo Crystal Drops - Dandilion Yellow and Onyx Black
Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow 6x6 Petite Paper

Thanks for stopping by.

Unicorn Birthday

Todays card is featuring Birthday Unicorn Set 2 from Bugaboo Stamps
.

I created the scallop frame by cutting out a scallop circle and then cutting the center out with the stitched inside/out circle dies.  I love all the inside and out dies, you get a stitched line on the cut out and the surround piece of card stock, so you can use it in two different ways.

I did a little cutting on the image to make the hair flow over the frame.  The sky isn't actually the same color as the unicorn, my picture taking isn't that great.  All I have is an iPhone, since I dropped my really good camera and broke it.

Supplies:
Spellbinders Scalloped Circles
Sentiment - MFTstamps All About You

A Rose for Mom

Mother's Day is just around the corner, so I am getting prepared.  Today I am featuring Rose Tag from Bugaboo Stamps.

I colored my flower with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers in yellow and oranges.

I splattered a little color to the background with some of my yellow ink pads.

The butterfly was colored with distress inks in Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, and Ripe Persimmon.

MFT Hatch stitched squares (discontinued)

Teachers Make the World a Better Place

Today’s project is for Anything but a Card (ABC).  I decided to make a couple of bookmarks for Teacher Appreciation.  I give them to my Grand daughter and niece to give to their teachers.

I am featuring two images, the Book Sitter 1 & Book Sitter 2, plus the Book Stack from Bugaboo Stamps.  As you can see it is very easy to combine images.

I cut the long sentiment “make the…” into two pieces so it would fit the bookmark.

I cut the bookmark with my Die-namics Stitched Fishtail Flags STAX, using the two largest dies.  The hole was punched with a regular hole puncher.  The apple was also cut into two pieces so I could use two colors and then fussy cut it out.

Supplies:
Embroidery thread in yellow and blue
Clover Tassle Maker (AMZ)
Clover  Handy Thread Twister (AMZ)
Simon Says Stamps You Matter (SSS101645)
CTMH Stamp Set - D1612 Teacher Appreciation

Birthday Girl

Happy Easter, I hope everyone is having a great day.  Did you hide the candy from the kids and pull an April Fool's Day prank?  I look up when these two holidays feel on the same day, and the last time it happened was the year I was born, that was a long time ago.

It’s time for another sketch with Stella.  Today I am featuring Girl Balloon  from Bugaboo Stamps

I word "happy" is 3 layers, with Glossy accents on top for dimension and interest.

Please excuse the little mishap with the glossy accents.  My bottle got clogged and I had it everywhere.  I almost had to trash the card.

Supplies:
Heidi Swapp Paper Pack (Tuesday Morning)

CTMH Thick Twine - Fern
Nuvo Jewel Drops - Strawberry Coulis
